Corpse pose

Even the international yoga day couldn't get me out of bed early Sunday morning. If you were an insomniac like me, you'd appreciate why I wouldn't risk waking up from even the poorest of REM cycle. I know, I know! I understand the irony of my statement - if I were physically fit, with a calm mind, which I could get through disciplined regular yoga, I wouldn't be an insomniac in the first place.

I have come to appreciate physical activities in general and yoga in particular of late. Specifically after some superficial reading of those popular science papers and books on the endocrine system and neurology.

Yet, I found the idea of 'international yoga day' somewhat odd. Big disruptions, especially state sponsored ones can have huge benefits in areas like public health. But doesn't it have to be sustainable and far reaching so not to get reduced to a gimmick? I like what the Singapore health promotion board seems to be doing - more long term public programs at the community level.

In the meanwhile, I will continue to be unhealthy and blame it on lack of time.
